South Carolina: Vote In, Flag Down–and Out! Mass Murder in South Carolina, Part 4

Please note: In 2015, long after I wrote this article, my understandings of the quindecile, a 24° aspect, were born out of the new–mathematically accurate–name for the 165° aspect, now called undecaquartisextile. Please read about the Undecaquartisextile as its related aspect patterns which can be found in the Pluto – Full On series. You’ll find the Pluto – Full On series under the subcategory of Undecaquartisextile, located in the Feature Articles tab. Thanks for your patience with the modification of the name.

What began as a battle that had lawmakers in the State House in Columbia, South Carolina had a delightfully surprising although somewhat dramatic turn of events shortly after 1 am EDT today. Just two hours before, lawmakers wondered whether they could resolve the issue of the Confederate flag before the month was even out, and some suggested they call it a night around 11:30 pm EDT on July 8.

Another suggestion for an amendment was called out: “By a vote of 29 to 90, Amendment Substitute 1 fails”

The representatives in the State House of South Carolina refused to adjourn.

State Rep. Wendell G. Gilliard of the South Carolina House of Representatives suggested “the shot heard around the world” be calmed now by the “acts of forgiveness [circling] the world” among those who died on the 17th of June. Beautiful sentiments certainly that offer us an opportunity to see the birth of this nation into one in which hostilities that should have been put to rest over a century ago, potentially standing a chance to do just that–in time. Transformations like these don’t happen over night, mind you. People’s mindsets need to change, to morph through the misperceptions and stereotypes, through the xenophobia that plagues wherever cancers like racism exist about those whom they see as somehow different from them. Still, now yesterday’s debates in the SC House represent a start as the vote has come to a close.

94 to 20 says it was far from a close vote, and well past the necessary two-thirds required to pass it! Within 24 hours after Governor Nikki Haley signs the bill into law, the Confederate flag will come down at last!

South Carolina House Approves Bill to Remove Confederate Flag

SC - Vote in, Flag down! The chart for the time of the news alert release is absolutely jaw-dropping after this long haul! With Uranus in a 33-minute partile conjunction to the Ascendant and a 1°05 conjunction to the Moon still in Aries, the surprise was inevitable. On the other hand, everyone pretty much knew this was a no-brainer–that however they were going to pull this off, that the flag was about to come down. News articles, however, painted a tale that cautioned about the possibility that the battle would long and drawn out, just as the Civil War had been.

Somewhere, those words of State Rep. Gilliard must have struck a chord on the spiritual side because Neptune was making a lovely 10-minute partile trine to Mars now on the IC from the 3rd house, while the Part of Fortune and the Sun were conjunct (and still conjunct Mars) from inside the fourth. There’s a striking symbolism here to see the 4/8/12 house complex with bodies in each, perhaps reminding us not only of the terminal houses pointing to our transient lives in the broader scheme of things, but also reminding us of those brutal times in which so many brothers turned against brothers in the war between the North and the South.

From the 10th house, Pluto sits conjunct the Midheaven in opposition to both the Sun and Mars–and obviously, thanks to the Moon conjunct Uranus and the Ascendant at the arm, the T-square was still in play, again in the angles. Jupiter and Venus now took a particularly perfect position in the 5th house where children are conceived and born, and the father can again be there for his family–in time. It’s a start.

SC - Vote inside. Solstice Points outsideI was intrigued with the way the Solstice Points came in against the Vote chart with few apparent direct hits although Venus and Pluto make a 44-minute partile quincunx in the Solstice Points chart and Neptune’s Solstice Point makes an opposition to the Vote chart’s Moon-Uranus conjunction. Again we have the formation of the Uranus-Neptune placement. Time will tell whether this is finally the start of that new life. Surely many will be looking for that kind of blessing, but nothing that’s good comes easily. It will require hard work.

Six undecaquartisextiles are in place now, and that does point to hard work, especially if you consider the North Node and the Ascendant as if to say it’s time to move forward. The Moon and Uranus both in Aries to the North Node served as the awareness through which the representatives’ actions would be accomplished–quite appropriately through the conscious effort and cooperative methods. While the debates were quite heated and emotional at times, thanks to Mercury in its undecaquartisextile to both Pluto and the Midheaven, everyone knew what the end result had to be, and they worked through those debates with a determined resolve to make it happen.   Both Venus and Jupiter to Neptune promised the focus on ideals and what was spiritually guiding them to ensure this moment.

I’m reminded of the fluidity of water that flows like a river through these three houses, the 4th, the 8th and the 12th. It brings to mind a lovely song in Hindi, Behende – Let It Flow, and that is exactly what’s coming about now.

Behne de – Let it Flow

Now I realize the addition of a song in Hindi seems a bit odd here, but the meaning of the title and the visuals in this song give us a true sense of what it must have been like in the House as they came through the worst of it.

For a full recap on this series–and I still don’t think we’re done yet since all states have not relinquished their use of the Confederate flag –they are as follows:

From Bullets and a Flag to Federal Charges: Mass Murder in South Carolina, Part 2

South Carolina and the Confederate Flag: Mass Murder in South Carolina, Part 3

As of June 30, here’s the lineup of states still needing to remove the flag.

Welcome to the new land we call America. Now the real work begins–to teach true equality for all, not just in the laws but also in the hearts and minds of all who live here. Sweet words to my mind…

Namaste, I love you.
