Nirbhaya
The Times of India carried one of countless stories appearing in the news both nationally and internationally. This one ran with the headline, Delhi gang rape case: Cops got first clue from CCTV of hotel. National rage, however, quickly turned global, and sympathetic protests were launched in several other nations.

Since I’m going to share some of the thoughts I had back then about the chart I’ve just posted as well as its comparison to India’s chart, I’ve also posted the Nirbhaya rape chart against the Independence chart I use for India. Both are highly relevant and will additionally tie into the chart I’ve used for Jisha.

As I wrote at the time of the Nirbhaya attack in Delhi, India, “I remember when I first saw the chart for 9:15 pm on December 16, I was struck by the rape chart Ascendant conjunct the IC of the India chart of Independence that included the 3rd and 4th house stellium of Mercury, Pluto, Saturn, Venus and the Sun. For me, it was a chilling warning that this had some very ominous overtones. Since Venus in the Independence chart was conjunct the rape chart Ascendant at the closest point, I felt it necessary to pay closer attention to this point…”
But when I reversed the wheel so India’s natal chart falls on the outside, India’s Venus forms a 5-minute partile conjunction to the Ascendant of the Nirbhaya rape chart while Venus in the rape chart forms a 15-minute conjunction to the Descendant in India’s chart . India’s Mars also forms a 27-minute conjunction to the Part of Fortune in the Nirbhaya chart while India’s Uranus forms a 50-minute partile opposition to the Nirbhaya chart’s Sun.

This morning–now Saturday, May 14–I noticed in the Nirbhaya rape chart the presence of a 38-minute partile semisextile between the Sun at 25 Sagittarius 06 and the North Node (NN) at 25 Scorpio 44. My thoughts immediately went to the possibility of a Blooming Undecaquartisextile (UQSXT), and I wasn’t disappointed. The Midheaven of the Nirbhaya chart sits at a 1°10 orb to completing this particular UQSXT aspect. This aspect invariably established the public setting that later became the focus of the news at the time.

It’s clear she was overpowered. Take note of the Western 2nd quadrant below-the-horizon dominance in the attack chart.. Her efforts to fight back would have been futile. Pluto by antiscion formed a conjunction to the Vertex, both of which were placed in the 5th house as well as the Sun which was ruling the chart. Looking back, the gang had admitted to being drunk at the time of the rape, which might have accounted for the caveman mentality present at the time of the attack. But that’s a mighty big “might,” isn’t it?

Jisha and Nirbhaya – The Attacks in Comparison

While we see an even split in Jisha’s attack chart Eastern and Western hemispheres, the 2nd quadrant below-the-horizon dominance again shows strongly, pointing to the energies of the moment coming at her, just as they did for Nirbhaya in December 2012. In Jisha’s chart, however, we see the presence of a singleton Jupiter intercepted in the 10th house in opposition to 4th house Neptune in square to Saturn and Mars in the first.

But we’re speaking as well about the comparisons to the Nirbhaya attack chart, and here, we see the formation of Jupiter in opposition to Mercury from the Nirbhaya attack falling in the Jisha attack chart’s 7th house with Mercury conjunct Jisha’s Mars. The conjunction of the Jisha chart Moon to the Nirbhaya Mars is also unmistakeable when we remember the two charts symbolize the actual attacks and not the natal charts of the two women. The same tensions can be said to show as well in the Nirbhaya Moon in square to the Jisha Sun.

In the Jisha attack chart, we see a Mercury-Uranus semisextile with its midpoint at 7 Taurus 34, conjunct the attack chart’s Sun and India’s Ceres (relevant here because India is considered the Mother country, the nurturer and protector) in a 39-minute partile opposition to the Nirbhaya attack’s Saturn and forming a Resonant Blooming UQSXT (Mercury-Uranus-Saturn). It doesn’t stop there, however: In the Nirbhaya attack, using the same process, we note the Saturn (8 Scorpio 13) semisextile to Mercury at 7 Sagittarius 42 with its midpoint at 22 Scorpio 58–in opposition to the Jisha attack’s Mercury. Again, on its own, we look at the Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile, but compared to the Jisha attack, that too becomes a Blooming Undecaquartisextile with the Jisha attack chart’s Mercury!

One final view of these charts before it’s time to call it “done.” I’ve compared Jisha’s attack chart with Nirbhaya’s attack chart, and Nirbhaya’s attack with India’s. While I have Nirbhaya’s chart in the outer ring, this will just be about Jisha’s chart with India’s. Nirbhaya’s is present to tie together the context. Now it comes full circle:
Note the Ascendant conjunction from Jisha’s attack chart to India’s 7th house cusp and the South Node (Ketu). The placement in Jisha’s chart also forms a 59-minute partile conjunction to India’s 7th house placement of Juno.  The Jisha chart also closes in on a curious sequence I might not otherwise have noted here.

The Jisha Neptune at 11 Pisces 28 forms a 28-minute partile conjunction to Pallas in the Indian Independence chart while Pallas in the Jisha chart forms a conjunction to Neptune in the Nirbhaya chart. Coming full circle at this point, remember Neptune in the Nirbhaya chart forms an 8-minute partile square to the Nirbhaya Venus on the 7th house cusp of the Independence chart and the Ascendant of the Jisha attack chart.

Betwa Sharma in “Why Jisha Is Not Just ‘Kerala’s Nirbhaya’,” published in Huffington Post India, pointed to highly valid reasons why people would be wise not to consider Jisha “just” another Nirbhaya. Certainly Sharma is right that the settings were different.

But the horrific kinds of brutality against each were enough to consider Nirbhaya’s and Jisha’s cases in a category we might call “Nirbhaya.” Where Nirbhaya’s family wanted their daughter named, and India has had a series of gang rapes ending in a variety of abuses, falling from just short of murder to the most gruesome variety, I tend to disagree with Sharma although the article included had taken notice of the following:

“Rajeshwari has told reporters that she and her daughter had a difficult relationship with their neighbors, who, she says, destroyed their water pipes, threw stones into their house, while men from the locality made sexual advances at Jisha.” A bit further into the article, Betwa Sharma had written, “But their neighbors told TheNewsMinute that it was Rajeshwari who hurled stones at anyone who tried to speak to her, and that is why people didn’t come to her aid when she was desperately trying to break down the door of her house on the night of the murder.”

In the years since Nirbhaya’s death, countless articles have addressed the blatant physical, verbal and other overt sexual overtures at women and girls of all ages in India. These gestures appear to come from a self-righteous concept of the male who seems to think all females are his right of choice. (Note to readers, this is not to imply that all Indian males behave like this of course.)

Just days after Nirbhaya’s attack as she lay fruitlessly fighting for her life with over another week to go before she breathed her last breath, actor Amitabh Bachchan posted on his Facebook timeline, in part, “तो मिलनी चहिये , और वो भी कड़ी से कड़ी , उन जानवरों को, जिन्होंने ये साबित कर दिया, की उनके चेहरे समाज के कीचड़ में तो सने हुए हैं ही , लेकिन साथ में ये भी, की जिस कोख से वे जन्मे, उसका कितना निरादर किया |”

Puneet Tandon, a dear friend and member of this site, was kind enough to translate it for me:

“This pain is unbearable… And neither is the misdeed of those demons.
Who should one accuse, and to whom should one tell one’s pain when human does wrong to a human?” ~ Bachchan

“Punishment shall be given, and that too of the highest degree, to those animals who have proved that their faces are stained with dirt [hypocrisy]. And also did they insult the womb from which they were born.

The passage Amitabh Bachchan posted was longer and will be in the entire Delhi Gang Rape case thread in Scorpio as I have time over the coming weeks; but for this article, this remains the most important portion of the quote without destroying its context.

What makes Jisha’s rape and murder what we might call a “Nirbhaya category crime” has nothing to do with gang rape or whether she was out one evening versus at home. Those who have been tortured as Nirbhaya and Jisha were fall in this category.

This doesn’t negate the abuse–the rape–itself much less the murder, nor does it negate the abject abuses endured by the victims who have survived these crimes that should be unspeakable because their perpetrators have indeed insulted the wombs from which they were born. Rape is an indignity on its own and falls in the category we call “unspeakable.” Gruesome crimes like Nirbhaya’s, like Jisha’s, like others whose bodies were put through the hate- and rage-filled tortures like these fall in the “Nirbhaya” category. These victims–Nirbhaya–were subjected to indignities far beyond.
