Minnesota Mosque Bombed – Had You Heard?

This past weekend the bombing of a mosque in Minnesota nearly escaped my attention. Thanks to CBS News for its reporting, I managed to catch a quick comment enough to have it embedded in my brain to search for it this morning before doing my work for the day. I don’t want this report to pass by because what happens to anyone is important–or should be–to all of us.

Unfortunately, there aren’t enough hours in the day to cover all of the news, whether about the kidnapping of the UK model in Italy for the intention of selling on the “Black Web,” or another earthquake in China today. As much as I’d like to cover all of the news, I, like everyone else, am human. Nevertheless, I want to cover this news because there seems to be a misperception about some of the US agencies and their input on some news stories. Especially in a nation being perceived as xenophobic (count me out of that definition, please!), I have to give props to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for its possibly erring on the side of caution and not being quick to apply the words “terrorist attack” before assessing the situation. Once that was determined, the words were indeed applied. In fact, I remember hearing comments from Minnesota’s governor in that news report–and he did call it what it was: “A terrorist attack.”

This will be short. While I want to cover it, I want to get to the basics before I’m off again doing my annual articles on India and Pakistan.. This is still too important to ignore so I’ll cut to the chase.

The Eastern and Western hemispheres are evenly split, but the 2nd quadrant below-the-horizon dominance speaks volumes in the sense of those who perpetuated this crime against the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington were looking for reactions to this act. While that may seem like no surprise kind of statement, the chart itself speaks of energy that gives me far more concern than the obvious response one would expect to happen. Yes, those who do these kinds of acts are looking for reactions, but this seems to be more related to the perpetrators seeking validation through the reactions themselves.

Consider that 47-minute partile conjunction of 6th house intercepted Moon and Pluto in respective 53-minute and 6-minute partile square to 4th house Jupiter conjunct the IC. While the Moon in square to Jupiter can reflect a need to create space, more freedom, the square between Jupiter and Pluto will reflect the need for authorities to step in. Certainly both occurred on Saturday morning, August 5, as members of the mosque had been gathering for their morning prayers. At the same time however, that 10-minute partile semisextile (30°) between 9th house Chiron and 10th house Uranus forms a Blooming Undecaquartisextile in a mere 17-minute partile conjunction to the IC (the 4th house cusp)! (For students who are still learning about this particular aspect, the undecaquartisextile is a 165° angle. When it’s forming a semisextile to another aspect forming that same degree to the same third point, the patterns are established.) This particular Blooming Undecaquartisextile seems to indicate to me that these were locals who had committed this act of violence against the Islamic community in Bloomington. I’ll add here, however, if the Blooming Undecaquartisextile had been located anywhere else in this chart–away from the angles–it would have been more likely to show as a Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile. This, however, becomes more significant as you’ll see when you read on.

The chart opens with a Sun-ruled Leo Ascendant and the Mars-Sun (in order) conjunction rising. Take note, however, that 10th house Uranus sits in a mere 2°30′ orb of a square to the Ascendant. Those who intended to wreak havoc on the mosque aimed for surprise, and certainly they achieved that. Luckily, the 4/8/12 houses focused more on Venus’ rulership of the 4th house (while the natural zodiac’s 4th house is where we find the Moon) while 12th house Venus, a nice placement for a place of worship or a spiritual gathering place, is currently in Moon-ruled Cancer. This kind of energy again points to the 4th house while Uranus rules the 8th house of this chart in a house normally attributed to Mars and Pluto in the natural zodiacal chart. Thankfully, these people didn’t know astrology! A second Blooming Undecaquartisextile forms from the Mars to Mercury 59-minute partile semisextile, resolving in a 32-minute partile conjunction to the South Node. This particular conjunction makes me wonder whether there was a connection to prior acts of violence, specifically to those who committed this crime.

I suppose my feeling about that connection is more of an intuitive thing rather than my clearly identifying anything, but there is such a strong sense of this karmic kind of vitriol coming out in this particular act–from the reference to the 4th house, the interwoven links between Venus and the Moon, the Moon and Pluto to Jupiter, the undecaquartisextile (UQSXT) patterns from the 9th and 10th houses to the IC itself and even the Mercury-Mars semisextile forming that second clearly established partile UQSXT pattern to the South Node. Almost as if to put the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae, Neptune forms a 30-minute partile semisextile to the Midheaven (MC) and resolves at a 3-minute partile opposition to natal Chiron.

Now I’m well aware many astrologers still look at Chiron and see it as the wounded healer. While I don’t doubt this to be the case at some levels, the additional thought of sizzle in performance (charisma perhaps to those who would agree with the individuals who created and placed the bomb) cannot be missed. Any time one has fireworks or bombs, gunfire or some other striking act as such, one will see the obvious sizzle at the most visual level. Such visual impacts cannot, however, negate the riveting moments at which the acts themselves are making the impact–positively or negatively–to observers. If anything, I’d say it makes more of one, not less.

Dane Rudhyar wrotes of the Sabian Symbol for 14 Libra, the IC of this particular chart, “PHASE 194 (LIBRA 14°): IN THE HEAT OF THE NOON HOUR A MAN TAKES A SIESTA.

“KEYNOTE: The need for recuperation within the social pattern of everyday activity.

“At the emotional-cultural level man today is not able to sustain constant activity. There must be rest periods, siestas or coffee breaks, during which the individual withdraws within his own sphere of selfhood, not only for physical relaxation but for allowing the strange, but evidently necessary play of dream fantasies. Social structuring cannot be maintained healthfully without breaks, in whatever climate man may live. Besides, the body needs quiet and relaxation from nervous tension after what is often the main meal of the day.

“This fourth stage symbol can be seen as emphasizing the need for techniques of RELAXATION, and the need to allow the functions of body and psyche to “digest,” free from external pressures, the complex experiences of social living and particularly of business.”

I’m reminded here of the caution that those who have created and set off the bomb are indeed likely to have had highly nervous tension. I wouldn’t be at all surprised, in fact. With Mars rising and the act they did, they may now be realizing they bit off more than they could chew. What’s especially startling to me lies in my realizing that the Uranus-Chiron semisextile resolves in that conjunction to the IC since the angles of a chart normally wouldn’t have anything to do with a yod (two points of a sextile [60°], each extended to the same third point at a quincunx [150°] aspect). But the Uranus-Chiron resolution at the IC increases the importance of the IC in this chart since the sensitive point in that resolution makes the IC a viable option in establishing a yod through a sextile to the Sun with the third point at a partile degree conjunction to Neptune. Since Mercury opposes Neptune in this chart, were it tighter, we’d give serious thought to calling this a Boomerang Yod (a yod with an opposition to the third point from the midpoint of the sextile, the semisextile). Still, it’s worth mentioning–and your considering.

On that note, until next time…a translation of the following:

“Dark night of the Soul – Forgive us. That we did not understand.”

Namaste, I love you,
